All Gold in Michigan

All three teams finish #1 at Lax in the Zoo

Northstar Box teams braved winter storms to get to Kalamazoo, Michigan this past weekend (Dec 20-21st) for the Lax in the Zoo Tournament. The High School Elite, Midget, and Bantam teams have been battling local competition for the last two months, so it was high time to hit the road and play some other teams. The whole program hit tough competition on Saturday, going 5-4 on the day, with a combined 5 goal differential in those five losses.

Early Sunday morning, the Bantams started the day with a win and the rest of the Northstar teams followed suit. The three teams went undefeated on Sunday, beating every team they lost to on Saturday, en route to three championships on the weekend.

Each team showed marked growth throughout the weekend, not only with their play, but with the results. High School Elite and Midgets resume local play in January, while everyone is back on the road January 18-20th for the Midwest Classic in Columbus, Ohio.

  • Practices start: Saturday, September 6th and go every Saturday until our final tournament.

    • HS Elite/Midget: Noon-2PM

    • Bantam/Peewee: 2-4PM

  • Players come from all over the Twin Cities, so we chose a central location with some amenities for parents/whoever is there watching practices.

    Ninth Street Soccer and Coffee (801 SE 9th St, Minneapolis, MN 55414) has the space we need and a full cafe attached to it.

  • We are always seeking out local opportunities/leagues for our teams to play in. Last winter we competed in both the Homegrown Winter Box League (Sundays) and TC League (Weekdays).

    We are hoping to consolidate play between the leagues on Sundays next season.

  • Our goal is to play against the best box lacrosse competition in the country:

    Lax in the Zoo - Portage, MI

    • Mid December.

    • Great tune-up tournament.

    • Notable Teams: PLG

    Resolute Midwest Classic - Columbus, OH

    • January 17, 18, and 19th.

    • Notable Teams: Resolute Top Teams, Toronto Rock, Juiced Cherries, L4, Midnight Riders, After Hours, etc.

    3rd Tournament - TBD

    • Louisville Box Classic - 1/31-2/1

    • Southeast Regional Qualifier (Florida) - 1/31-2/1

    • Looking at other options.

  • HS Elite, Midget, and Bantam: $1695

    • Monthly payments available

    • Includes game uniform and practice jersey for the season

    Peewee/Novice: TBD

    • Hoping to put together enough players at each level to compete against each other in an in-house league.

    • If there’s enough interest, one late winter drivable tournament.

  • We love teaching the game of box lacrosse and want our players to compete at the highest level, but we also want to grow the game and spread our love for it.

    We have room for local and practice players for those who want to ease into the club experience or play a winter sport.
