All three teams finish #1 at Lax in the Zoo
Northstar Box teams braved winter storms to get to Kalamazoo, Michigan this past weekend (Dec 20-21st) for the Lax in the Zoo Tournament. The High School Elite, Midget, and Bantam teams have been battling local competition for the last two months, so it was high time to hit the road and play some other teams. The whole program hit tough competition on Saturday, going 5-4 on the day, with a combined 5 goal differential in those five losses.
Early Sunday morning, the Bantams started the day with a win and the rest of the Northstar teams followed suit. The three teams went undefeated on Sunday, beating every team they lost to on Saturday, en route to three championships on the weekend.
Each team showed marked growth throughout the weekend, not only with their play, but with the results. High School Elite and Midgets resume local play in January, while everyone is back on the road January 18-20th for the Midwest Classic in Columbus, Ohio.

We are actively seeking out local leagues for our teams to play in. Last winter we competed in the Homegrown Winter Box League on Sundays at TOCA Burnsville from November into December.

We love teaching the game of box lacrosse and want our players to compete at the highest level, but we also want to grow the game and spread our love for it.
We have room for local and practice players for those who want to ease into the club experience or play a winter sport.

Lukas Johnson: Box Lacrosse Director
Northstar Box Lacrosse Mission:
Northstar Box Lacrosse was founded with a desire to compete and win at the highest level in the world while teaching skills, concepts, commitment, and a love of the game.
Our staff is committed to teaching the game the right way, because we believe that the team that plays the smarter game will always have a chance to win, regardless of the pure skill/athleticism that they’re faced with.
We value inclusivity. Players who commit to our process are valued and earn roles. Top players work with less experienced players; older players are empowered to lead and teach our younger levels; all of which betters the program, the teams, and all individuals associated.
Relationships are a major catalyst for growth and success. If players are connected to their coaches, teammates, and other players in the program, they will go to war alongside them and strive to be successful with and for them.
We don’t always need the best players, we need the right people.
Coach “Lujo” brings an uncanny passion to the floor to teach, inspire players, and grow the game in the box lacrosse forum.
The landscape of box lacrosse is changing rapidly across the country right now as box asserts itself as king in the development of players while opportunities at the highest level of competition continue to grow.
Northstar Box and its coaches are dedicated to creating opportunities for aspiring box players and growing the best version of lacrosse.
Contact Lujo for more information. We’re happy to run try box events for any level, small group sessions, lessons, consulting, etc.
